Strawberry Coulis / Coulis de Fraises

2 CommentsBy zaza-cook

One morning in June, my daughter and I decided to go to a strawberry farm. We picked up 8 lbs of strawberries. Enough strawberries to make a lot of recipes!

After baking a Mixed Berry Crisp, I decided to make some strawberry ice cream, my first homemade ice cream.

I needed 1 cup of strawberry coulis. This recipe makes 1 1/2 cups of coulis. Perfect for making my ice cream. Couldn’t wait to make it!

This homemade strawberry coulis made with fresh strawberries is also a great topping for pancakes, French crêpes or vanilla ice cream!! My husband loved it. This coulis is gorgeous!

Recipe to come, strawberry ice cream with no ice maker:)

Preparation Time : 5 minutes   Cooking Time : 10 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions :

  1. Add strawberries, granulated sugar, and water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-low heat. Reduce heat and allow to simmer about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and pour into jar of a blender. Blend on high speed for 10 seconds or until smooth.
  2. Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until chilled, about 20 minutes at less or overnight.
