What a funny recipe to make! I’ve never made crispy chickpeas before.

Frying the chickpeas in olive oil is a great way to get the crispiest chickpeas. A quick toss in smoked paprika and sugar, and it’s ready to serve.

Super simple to make, these Crispy Spiced Chickpeas are perfect for an appetizer or a snack.

Serves 6  Preparation time : 10 minutes  Total time : 22 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 2 (15-ounce) cans chickpeas
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon peper

Directions :

  1. Rinse chickpeas and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Combine paprika, sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper in large bowl. Heat olive oil in large Dutch oven over high heat until just smoking.
  2. Add chickpeas and cook, stirring occasionally, until deep golden brown and crispy, 10-12 minutes. Using slotted spoon, transfer chickpeas to paper towel-lined baking sheet to drain briefly, then toss with paprika-sugar mixture. Serve.

Fried chickpeas can be stored in airtight container for up to 1 day.
